Hello all,
I am working with a managed service provider and they have a lot of
small projects that would be ideal for an intern or anyone else who
would like to get more exposure to working with Linux systems.
Here's a sample of some projects:
- restructuring Nagios
- configuring CSF/LFD to report to a central server
- experimenting with various cloud providers to compare features
- configuring DRACs for serial-over-LAN
- reorganizing git
- drawing pretty pictures of data flow
- load balancing using haproxy
- persuading clients that they need to firedrill their restore process
All of this work will be via remote access. So, familiarity with ssh
or Putty would be required, as well as IM, Google Hangout, Skype, or
similar. If you've installed Linux and/or fired up a cloud instance
running Linux, and worked through the examples in Scott's "Linux
Phrasebook", you've got a good basis. If you've done more than that
and want to do more, that's good, too. Beyond that, the only
requirement would be a healthy dose of enthusiasm to learn sysadmining
Linux.
If you are interested (or know of anyone who might be), please send me
a e-mail with a paragraph (or two or three) telling me who you are,
what you've done with Linux, and what you would like to know more
about in Linux, along with a copy of your resume.
Regards,
- Robert
